Daughter for Hire was so pleased to receive a grant from The Genesis Group Small Business Assistance Program. The grant, sponsored by First Source Federal Credit Union, will be used to fund two Microsoft Surface Pro tablets to help senior clients in the Mohawk Valley stay connected with the world around them.
As a provider of companion care services, we have seen first hand how, as we age, our world becomes smaller when we are no longer able to drive, have chronic health conditions, or we lack the level of socialization we once had.
The goal in using tablets for our seniors is to bring “easy” technology to them.
Our caregivers will help by teaching them how to check on the news, weather, email, games, and to stay in touch with family and friends. The art and excitement of learning is proven to help seniors remain engaged and positive, and this is a fun way to provide that kind of challenge while giving them access to the world outside their door.
Many thanks to The Genesis Group and First Source for recognizing the importance of caring for seniors in the Mohawk Valley and for helping to provide access to the outside world to those aging in place.
